Case Study

The Teatro El Sauzal, after 30 years of uninterrupted activity, decided to renovate its facilities in order to be able to adapt to the new variety of cultural activities offered and to be able to satisfactorily meet the current requirements of a cultural space of these characteristics.

The new Teatro El Sauzal has relied on Figueras to equip its facilities with a movable system with the aim of becoming an innovative, functional and versatile space at the service of the performing arts. For this purpose, a retractable tribune has been installed allowing multiple format performances to be held, with the possibility to vary the capacity of the space by opening or closing the tribune in a totally automatic way.

Due to the implementation of the retractable tribune, the stage space has gone from being more similar to a classical theatre, to become a fully configurable theatre with infinite possibilities and equipped with the latest technology. Despite the fact that the capacity of seated people remains practically identical to the original theatre, going from 450 to 435, the capacity of the space has increased notoriously, being able to accommodate up to a thousand people, among seated and standing spectators, especially focused on shows with formats that would allow it.
