The conversion of the former station parking lot in Sion into the Noda BCVS congress and music hall is a prime example of how detailed engineering can enhance an architectural repurposing project.
Designed by Bonnard + Woeffray Architects, this multipurpose venue required a seating solution that integrated critical services without compromising the space’s visual clarity.
For the first time, Figueras has adapted models from the Flex collection by incorporating a ventilated central pedestal for air displacement ventilation. This system allows for silent, individualized air renewal directly from the base of each seat, removing the need for standard floor grilles and improving both the acoustics and the overall aesthetics of the stalls.
Customization was the cornerstone of this project. In the stalls, the installed model features integrated electrical connectivity and custom-made anti-panic tables crafted from ARPA material—selected for its anti-fingerprint properties and high resistance to heavy use.
In the balcony, a more compact version of the seat was installed, featuring side panels that extend nearly to the floor to maintain visual alignment and the same ventilation system. With a flexible capacity of up to 600 seats, the first two rows being removable, and a black velvet finish with embroidered numbering on the backrest, the project showcases Figueras’ ability to hybridize its catalog models to solve specific design and functional challenges.
