Escenarios a Escena Vol.4: debates, music and creativity to close the 2025 cycle

Escenarios a Escena Vol.4: debates, música y creatividad para cerrar el ciclo 2025

On September 18th, we celebrated the session “Escenarios a Escena – Vol.4” at Roca Barcelona Gallery, which ended a very special cycle of Architecture Music · Musicians Architects, where theatres and the performing arts have taken center stage.

Throughout 2025 we experienced four successful gatherings in which, as curator Félix Arranz pointed out, “the audience, more than spectators, became actors” – participating, debating, sharing ideas, and building community. A community that shows that when we talk about theatres, we are also talking about memory, creativity, and a shared future.

In each of these four editions, held in some of the most iconic Roca Gallery spaces -Barcelona, Madrid, and London- we discovered outstanding projects in the sector and learned that theatre architecture goes far beyond the simple use of the hall. A theatre -whatever the space may be- is light, acoustics, visibility, comfort, immersion, and the combination of all the elements that contribute to the experience: from the stage to the orchestra pit, from the curtain to the stage machinery… and, of course, the seats.

From this final session, we take away some key ideas that will continue to inspire us:

  • Memory as legacy.
  • Light as the leading actress.
  • Limitations as a driver of creativity.
  • The architect as conductor.

The program of this Escenarios a Escena Vol.4 stayed true to the spirit of previous sessions, with projects and perspectives that were very different from one another:

  • Forgas Arquitectes (Joan Forgas and Dolors Ylla Català) presented the renovation and expansion of Teatre l’Artesà, highlighting the importance of preserving certain spaces as places for community gathering.
  • Estudio Vila 13 (Ana Olmo and Jordi Carreño) presented the rehabilitation of Teatro Pereyra, a project that blends past and future. This required not only respecting the limitations of a historic building but also giving it versatility by creating a hall capable of adapting to multiple uses.
  • María de la Cámara (Cube.bz) showcased the lighting design for the opera Alí and the many possibilities of using light as an active part of storytelling.

The day continued with an open debate, where Marta Ferrer, Business Development Director Iberia at Figueras, highlighted the importance of technology and versatility to adapt spaces to today’s functional needs (as in the case of Teatro Pereyra and its mobile seating system, Mutawheel featuring the Minispace 5067 model). One of Figueras’ major contributions to this project was -for the very first time- the incorporation of four stage platforms enabling different configurations, along with a raked stalls system to ensure the best audience experience.

The concert by musician and architect Ramón Faura was the perfect finale, closing a day where architecture and music once again met face to face.

At Figueras, we continue to believe in architecture as a driver of spaces that foster dialogue and knowledge. That’s why we already have our eyes set on next year and on a new cycle of Architecture Music that you won’t want to miss.

In this video you can relive some of the best moments from this final encounter.
