The National Football League (NFL) inaugurated its new West Coast headquarters in Inglewood, California, last September.

The NFL’s new headquarters, NFL Los Angeles, has been relocated at Hollywood Park, an outstanding complex of more than 100 hectares where a variety of buildings converge, from offices and residential buildings to stadiums and arenas with a capacity of more than 70,000 seats.

Therefore, the new NFL headquarters joins other emblematic and innovative buildings in Hollywood Park such as the recently opened YouTube Theater or SoFi Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers, which opened in 2020 and is currently the largest facility in the American Football League.

Building

The NFL Los Angeles is a 450,000-square-foot Class A building with 214,063 square feet of office space and 74,922 square feet of studio and studio support space to serve as the home for all NFL Network.

Gensler was the architectural firm commissioned to create a state-of-the-art high-tech facility to inspire the more than 1,000 employees it houses and to foster continued growth and synergies between the NFL’s traditional broadcast and its new digital channels and formats for the distribution of news, entertainment, stats and live day-to-day content from NFL games around the world.

“This facility was designed for the world that we are in now, and what we think the world will look like in the future”, David Jurenka, NFL Los Angeles general manager and NFL Media senior vice president.

Facilities

The brand new complex has 5 production studios, a dedicated room for podcasts recording, a voice-over booth and 20 rooms for audio and video editing.

The NFL headquarters also has a screening room where sports events can be enjoyed. This space has been equipped with 49 Figueras Smart RC 13012 seats.

Product supplied

The Smart 13012 RC from Figueras is a generously sized seat designed for use in screening rooms, corporate, cinema, giant screens and is available with a wide range of accessories. This model has a reclining backrest with a maximum recline range of 15° additional past its resting position. This mechanism, which is totally silent, allows each user to adapt the inclination of the backrest to suit their preferences, considerably improving the viewing experience and guaranteeing the maximum comfort of the audience. The Smart recline series returns to neutral position 15 seconds after the seat is vacated, keeping the room effortlessly in order.  The seat also has seat numbering, cup holders and an individual connectivity system for charging portable devices during the screening.

For this project, a swivel side table has been added to the seat in one of its armrests. Thanks to its multi-position feature, the occupant can access his seat easily and adjust the table to the position that best suits the needs of the moment.

The seats have been upholstered in sober black faux leather, following the aesthetics of the room and ensuring the creation of a totally homogeneous space to guarantee optimal viewing. The upholstery of this seat is characterised by the inclusion of exposed seams in white, extending the game of contrasts generated in the room by means of the lighting with decorative elements representative of American football tactical boards.
