Company establishment

Everything began in a small carpentry workshop. The initial project involved crafting wooden benches for the Avenida cinema in Barcelona, foretelling a prosperous future for the business.

First artisan armchair

After years as a carpentry workshop, Figueras produced its first seat: handmade, crafted from wood, and lacking any upholstery, yet surprisingly comfortable.

The upholstered seat bursts into the cinema market

The owners of Cine Teatro Novedades in Barcelona, the city's largest and most modern cinema, turned to Figueras for their auditorium's renovation. This collaboration, directed by Antonio Bonamusa during Pedro Balañá's ownership, resulted in the creation of the Z seat—Figueras' inaugural upholstered model. This design marked a breakthrough in the collective seating sector, establishing Figueras as a prominent manufacturer of luxury seats.

The plastic era

A revolutionary concept emerged as plastic became an alternative to wood: injected plastic casings protected the seat and backrest, positioning Figueras as a company bridging traditional craftsmanship and industrial innovation.

New offices

Our offices relocated to Lliçà d’Amunt, where Figueras established its headquarters, maintaining close proximity to Barcelona.

FC Barcelona

Figueras installed over 60,000 seats in the new FC Barcelona stadium, the Camp Nou, solidifying its expertise in seating for stadiums and arenas.

Integral Form

The company revolutionized the seating industry by introducing the first seat with its patented all-in-one upholstery technology.

Top model launch

Figueras unveiled one of its most successful armchairs—the Top. An elegant and ergonomic design by Antonio Bonamusa, manufactured with the Integral Form system, the first Top armchairs found a home in the Kino Center Bergisch Gladbach in Germany.

Product diversification

Figueras diversified its product range, incorporating new materials and continuous innovation in manufacturing systems to create products suitable for various spaces. This included seating for schools and universities, waiting areas, cruise ships, ferries, and more.

Lyon Opera

Architect Jean Nouvel collaborated with Figueras to design an elegant seat with leather upholstery, expanding the company's offerings to enhance the seating experience in theaters.

Warner Bros

Warner Bros. entrusted Figueras to install 170,000 seats in its new theaters across Europe and Japan.

The company's growth led to the creation of the Figueras Design Center, where renowned architects collaborate to innovate seating designs.

International Growth

Figueras expanded globally, establishing offices in the United States, France, and Asia, along with a network of sales representatives worldwide, positioning itself as a seating distributor.

The White House

Figueras achieved a significant milestone by furnishing the briefing room of the White House in Washington D.C. The Flame model, designed by architect Filipe Oliveira, adorned this iconic press room. Subsequently, Figueras renewed the armchairs in 2023, demonstrating its expertise in seating for conference rooms.

Iconic Projects

The United Nations selected Figueras to furnish the Hall of Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations in Geneva. Upcoming projects include the OVO Hydro Arena designed by Foster + Partners and the Philharmonie de Paris designed by Ateliers Jean Nouvel, highlighting Figueras' expertise in seating for parliaments and auditoriums.

National Design Award

In 2013, Figueras received the National Design Award from the Spanish Government.

Brand Corner Acquires Figueras

Brand Corner, a group with over 40 years of experience and a turnover exceeding 400 million euros, acquired Figueras Seating to enhance synergies among its various companies.
